Over the years I have had the pleasure of meeting Guido on my visits to the World famous Gracie Academy in Torrance, California. As you would expect from a Gracie Academy Black Belt he is extremely knowledgable and has an amazing and extensive technical repertoire and a laid back teaching style. Off the mat he is a true Gentleman and well versed in the philosophies and principles of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Training with Guido is an opportunity not to be missed. Guido has been incredibly helpful to me in my personal Jiu-Jitsu development. He has always been willing to answer my countless questions and provide invaluable feedback. When demonstrating techniques, he could easily rely on his strength alone, but instead, he displays exceptional technical skill and understanding. Guido continues to be a tremendous resource here at the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy, as he freely shares his knowledge and expertise with students of all levels. Dan W. Guido has helped sharpen my skills in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu every time I'm on the mat. To begin, Guido has shown me how to utilize my petite nature against fellow grapplers by staying close, keeping my arms tucked in and being able to shrimp out of tight spaces. This week's focus was on footlocks, Guido showed me how to anticipate the escape my opponent might choose so to quickly counter- as soon as I tightly wrap up the foot, I need to begin to twist onto my side so they cannot escape unless they tapout. I truly appreciate every moment Guido takes to point out the critical details or showing other moves that will improve my skills on the mat. Guido is an inspirational Black Belt and I look forward to grappling with him every week. Sincerely,

I started my training journey at the Gracie Academy in February 2002. Several unique students impressed me.  However one had a style and confidence that made me take special notice.  Guido Jenniges displayed a talent to inspire others.  I witnessed his fighting spirit in several competitions.  His attention to detail and correct execution of techniques not only represents his ability to perform, but also to deliver tutorials to other students.  He proudly exemplifies the Gracie Jiu Jitsu art and philosophy in not only the competitive arena, but in everyday life. These qualities over the years transported him into a worthy Black belt instructor and I, among others, look to him for inspiration and advice.

Training at the Gracie Academy for the last 3 years has been a life changing experience for me. People think of Jiu Jitsu and think of the UFC and fighting but more than that it is a philosophy that you can apply to your everyday life. I can say with pride that I have never been a better person that I am today and I owe it all to the instructors at the Grace Academy. Guido Jennings is a great instructor because of his ability to explain each technique with such detail makes learning from him so easy to understand. I also appreciate the fact that he doesn't’t paint every student with the same brush. He realizes that some students may have deficiencies or need more explanation than others and he ALWAYS takes the time to assist those students in need. I am not the most limber person and I must say that at first I was hesitant to try Jiu Jitsu however; Guido showed me how to make Jiu Jitsu my own and how to apply it with comfort and ease. Learning from him as not only been educational but also a privilege and I would recommend him to anyone.

They say life’s a journey. And on that journey, we meet people along the way that bring new knowledge to our lives. All these people are our teachers of some sort or another. When I met Guido in my first attempt to demystify what Jiu Jitsu was all about, he said that it was a “love sport.” This love can be explained in many ways. For example, it’s loving the fact that you will some day become a master of this unique skill.  Guido teaches you skills you need to overcome a much heavier opponent, he teaches you how to anticipate your opponent moves, how to react, and counteract. It’s an intelligent sport and a huge challenge, and I’m loving it. I always thought there was something right about an apprentice working at the side of a master, learning his craft, growing his passion and one day having the skill to strike out on his own. That’s what I’ll do. But blue belt comes first. It must be conquered! I am fully confident that Guido will get me there!   Lana Krstic Triton Mixed Martial Arts Redondo Beach, California
